This summer we were awarded a Walmart Canada Community Grant. Thank you, Walmart, for your contribution of $1,000. This funding helps us meet the practical needs of our program participants.

For example, thanks to this grant, we were able to supply a new pair of steel-toed work boots to a participant in our No One Leaves Alone (NOLA) community reintegration program. Another NOLA participant received new work clothes. These items made it possible for them to return to work after incarceration.

We also used the grant to buy groceries for someone who recently left prison.

The journey from incarceration to the community is filled with uncertainty. By partnering with us to meet practical needs, Walmart has helped us ease the uncertainty for these three folks—and more like them.

By assisting with the basics, we can help people affected by incarceration focus on bigger issues—like finding work and housing, overcoming addiction, or pursuing educational opportunities.

“Whether we are buying groceries or building a relationship, our goal is to see people live without crime,” said Glenn Burchart, M2W2 Program Director. “We believe that with encouragement, practical support, and improved access to vital resources, people can transition successfully from prison. When this happens, our communities become safer and more connected.”

Thank you, Walmart, once again, for making an impact through practical support!
