After 23 years in downtown Abbotsford, Hidden Treasures is closing at the end of April. We thank the staff and volunteers who poured their hearts into the business and made the store a popular destination for thrifters from across the Fraser Valley and beyond.
In January 2020 we sold the building with the goal of moving to a larger site. As part of the deal, we remained in the building rent-free for three years. In January of this year, the three years concluded, and the deal closed. As a transition, we signed a 90-day lease that expires April 30, 2023.
For three years we have been looking for a new location. We formed a search committee and viewed potential properties. Despite these efforts, we could not find a suitable site.
We remain committed to finding a new location as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, we are thankful that our Chilliwack store is doing well. Our work experience program there is successful, and the store is at a stable location with room to grow.
Also, exciting things are happening through our prison mentorship and NOLA community reintegration programs. In the coming months, we look forward to sharing more stories about how these programs have supported and encouraged people as they rebuild their lives.
