Dear M2/W2 supporter,
As a precautionary step during the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to temporarily close our office and both Hidden Treasures stores. Both stores are closed today and our office will close Monday, March 23, 2020. The closures will be in effect until April 30, 2020, but it is possible that our office and stores will remain closed after that date. Going forward, we will stay attuned to this very fluid situation, and continue to follow the recommendations made by our provincial and federal health authorities. Protecting the health and safety of our staff and volunteers is our highest priority.
Last week, Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and BC Corrections suspended all public and volunteer visits to federal and provincial institutions. This means our volunteer in-prison mentorship program is temporarily on hold. Our volunteers have been contacted by their respective coordinators, and we will continue to communicate with CSC to stay informed as the situation evolves.
During the office closure, our staff will work from home.
We ask for your continued support. The effects of this unprecedented crisis are yet to be seen, and there is much uncertainty in the coming days and weeks.
We also ask that you pray for people in prisons—pray for their health and safety, and ask God to bring them comfort. Prison is an isolating place on most days. Without visitors and volunteers, its isolation can be even more profound.
Please stay safe and follow the public health recommendations made by our government.
